Chuson-ji Temple
202 Koromonoseki, Hiraizumi, Hiraizumi-cho, Japan, 029-4102Located to the north of central Hiraizumi, the temple complex of Chuson-ji began construction in the beginning of the 12th century when Hiraizumi was being built as a political and administrative base for Japan's northern territories, and took about a quarter of a century to complete. Of the structures in the complex, Chuson-ji Temple's Konjiki-do (Golden Hall) is the only structure that remains as it was when it was founded 900 years ago, and is Japan's first structure to be registered as a National Treasure. Visit Oshu City Traditional Industries Museum [Nambu Ironware Museum] and see how Nambu ironware is made through videos and displays faithfully recreating a Nambu ironware foundry from the early Meiji period (1868-1912). Oshu City is also the hometown of a current major leaguer world-renowned for being a two-way player.
