About the Activity
With Hayama to the east and Mt. Gassan to the south, Okura village is the least populated village in Yamagata prefecture. In winter, more than 3m of heavy snow accumulates in the beech forests, and over thousands of years it becomes abundant spring water that irrigates the rice terraces and grows fragrant wasabi. They grow wasabi without the use of any pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and they also insist on using no additives in their processing, producing with the motto of "food safety first".1 hour

Enjoy a tour of the wasabi farm and a wasabi soy sauce making experience using the harvested wasabi in the clear air and beautiful scenery of Okura Village. You can also try all-wasabi dishes. Okura Village is a member of the Most Beautiful Villages in Japan, and our company is an associate member. In the beautiful scenery and clear air, we grow wasabi without using pesticides, and only with the delicious spring water known as "Masudama no Shimizu," one of Yamagata's 100 famous waters. At Wasabi Kobo Okura, you can tour the wasabi house and experience processing it. Have you ever seen a whole stalk of wasabi? You can eat the whole wasabi, from the root to the leaves. Why not take this opportunity to try all-wasabi dishes? [Activities] You will visit wasabi cultivation at the wasabi house and experience bottling wasabi soy sauce at the wasabi factory. (Groups of 8 or more will experience the experience at the Wasabi House)
