Drogarati Cave
Chaliotata, Greece, 280 80The Cave of Drogarati is located 3 km from Sami, in the area of Haliotata in Kefalonia. Its entrance is at an altitude of 120 meters and its depth reaches 95 meters, while its temperature is 18 degrees Celsius. It has been explored by the Hellenic Speleological Society. It is considered one of the most suitable caves in Greece for speleotherapy. Its hall is very large (65 x 45 and approximately 20 meters high) and has excellent acoustics. For this reason, important concerts have been held here, such as M. Faradouris and the treble Ef. Karajanni. Nature has created a unique work of sculpture, from stalagmites and stalactites that have been created for thousands of years. The cave is a rare geological phenomenon and has been exploited for tourism.30 minutes • Admission Ticket Not IncludedView Location2
The cavernous cave of Melissani is located 2 km northwest of Sami in Kefalonia. The natural entrance of the cave is vertical with dimensions of 40 x 50 m and was created by the collapse of a part of the roof. An artificial entrance with steps and a long underground passage allows the cave to be visited. The lake is located 20 m below the surface of the ground and the depth of its waters varies from 10 m to 30 m. Stalactites with strange shapes decorate the largest part of the cave. The waters of Melissani, according to George A., pour into Agia Efimia.40 minutes • Admission Ticket FreeView Location
