About Manchester Art Gallery
Manchester City Art Gallery is a publicly owned art museum on Mosley Street in Manchester city centre. It has been at the center of city life for nearly 200 years, created as the Royal Manchester Institution for the Promotion of Literature, Science and the Arts, and has been proudly part of Manchester City Council since 1882. The gallery is for and of the people of Manchester. She is holding a sceptre is held in the right hand and an orb in the left. At the top of the throne is a bronze figure of St George fighting the dragon. Six steps lead up to the throne.
