SchneebergSchneeberg is the first "real" mountain on the Eastern edge of the Austrian Alps. The Schneeberg is one of the Northern Calcareous Alps in the borderland between Lower Austria and Styria. The summit plateau has a number of mountain huts which are visited by thousands of walkers, climbers and even mountain-bikers each year. There are numerous ski runs, some of them very steep, the most famous of which leads over the Breite Ries.

HöllentalThe Höllental in Lower Austria is a narrow valley between the steep limestone massifs of the Schneeberg and Rax through which the River Schwarza flows. It stretches for a total of 16.5 km between Schwarzau im Gebirge and Hirschwang and, because of its natural beauty, it belongs to the Natura 2000 region of Northeastern Border Alps. Because the valley is a popular tourist destination, there are several restaurants along the road.

Rax CablewayA beautiful cable way starting at Hirschwang at the north-eastern foot of the mountains and the first in Austria (construction began in 1925), takes visitors to the extensive, high plateau of the Rax at a height of about 1,500 m. This area is a particular favourite with hikers from Lower Austria and Vienna. The steep sides of the plateau offer climbing tours of various difficulty.

UnterbergA majestic summit in the Gutenstein Alps in southern Lower Austria. The mountain is made of limestone rock and has a steep, wooded face to the northwest which is pierced by crags, whilst to the southeast it falls away only half as sharply. It is a local winter sports centre with several ski pistes and is popular in spring for ski mountaineering. Myra WaterfallsMyra Waterfalls was a series of cascades and small waterfalls on the Myrabach with a total drop of maybe 70m. The gorge runs from north to south and is protected as a natural monument. The subsoil of the gorge is limestone. The Myrabach falls in several cascades through the gorge. At the upper and lower end the water is impounded into a small pond.

SteinwandklammThe Steinwandklamm is a gorge near Weißenbach an der Triesting in Lower Austria on the municipal boundary between Furth an der Triesting and Muggendorf , which was opened to tourists in 1884. On the south side of the gorge wall there are several smaller passage caves next to each other, the largest of which is called the Wildschützenloch, and to the west of it, a little higher, the so-called "Turk's Hole", a passage cave around 20 meters long.

Rising 4095 feet above sea level, the mountain is one of several close to the historic city of Lilienfeld. Today it is of historical significance due to the Czech-born ski pioneer Mathias Zdarsky. On March 19, 1905 the first official Alpine Ski Race was held on Muckenkogel. It was won by Zdarsky. Today, the mountain is a spot for hiking, mountain biking, as well as paragliding.

Fadensteig is a majestic mountain located in the heart of Austria. It is one of the shortest and most popular routes for experienced mountaineers and sure-footed hikers to climb the Schneeberg, and is therefore almost a normal route. The thread is also very popular with ski tourers in winter, but it can quickly become a deadly trap when it is icy.
