About Altenburg Abbey
A majestic Benedictine monastery in Altenburg, Lower Austria. It was founded in 1144，by Countess Hildeburg of Poigen-Rebgau. The abbey attained its present Baroque form under the direction of abbots Maurus Boxler and Placidus Much.
