About Fries Museum

The Fries Museum is dedicated to Friesland and the Frisian people. Its activities revolve around the eleven cities that make up the province and the surrounding countryside. The collection of the Fries Museum consists of 1 million objects and is dedicated to arts, crafts, and history from the years 1200 to 2000. Around 8000 objects are currently on display in the museum. The most iconic objects in the museum are the Hindelooper Room, the Popta Treasure and the legendary sword of Grote Pier.

Museum de GrutterswinkelMuseum De Grutterswinkel is a museum in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden. The grocery store is located in a five - bay building from 1596. Museum BlokhuispoortThe Blokhuispoort is a complex of buildings that served as a detention center in the city of Leeuwarden until December 2007 . The current building was built in the second half of the nineteenth century on the site where a prison already stood around 1500. It has undergone many adaptations and extensions over the centuries and has served as a prison since 1580. In its present form, the complex is 130 years old and has 180 cells.

OldehoveThe Oldehove is a leaning and unfinished church tower in the medieval centre of the Dutch city of Leeuwarden. The height of the tower is 39 metres. The tower has 183 steps. The top of the tower is displaced horizontally 2 metres from the centre. The original plan included attaching a new church to the tower, which would replace the old saint vitus church, but this was never realized. Custodian of the tower is Historisch Centrum Leeuwarden.
