Phou Khao Khouay National Bio-Diversity Conservation AreaPhou Khao Khouay National Park is located only 40 kilometres northeast of Vientiane, accessible via Route 13 headed to Tha Khaek. Wat Ong TeuWat Ong Teu Mahawihan was originally built in the 16th century by King Setthathirat, the builder of Pha That Luang. Like the Great Stupa, it was destroyed in the Siamese invasion of 1828 and was later rebuilt in the 19th century. The temple dating back to the King Nangklao's reign, more than 200 years ago. It is situated in an old town zone called Ban Dong Bang. Previously, it was called "Wat Pho Thong" and renamed to "Wat Photharam" as today in 1942 by the fourth abbot, Phra Kru Chan Di.
