Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhasof the present kalpa. These relics include the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa, and eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama. built 2500 years ago, is the place to go when in Myanmar. At 325 feet tall, covered in gold plate and encrusted with diamonds and rubies at the top, it’s quite the sight to see. Describing it in words is impossible; you have to see it for yourself.  It’s quite a large place with lots to see, so allot a minimum of one hour.  And of course, as everyone is warned, you must take off your shoes and socks; bare feet only. Unfortunately, by the end of your visit, your feet are pretty filthy! Bring wet wipes to clean your feet!  There are four entrances, and there are a lot of stairs to walk up. But there are also elevators and escalators for people to use. However, you must take off your shoes even while on the escalator, something I don’t recommend!  Another thing to note is that there are free water refill stations with drinkable water, so if your water bottle is empty, this is your chance to fill up!
