This shrine marks the Philippines' most historic window: on June 12, 1898, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo declared the independence of the Philippines, ending the 333 years of Spanish rule. The window, now renovated and converted into the Balcony of Independence, is the centerpiece of the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite. There are so many things to see and study in and outside of this shrine and The tower, the most prominent part of the mansion provides a sweeping view of Cavite, Manila, and Bataan.

Battery Way

Battery Way is armed with four 12-inch mortar carriages capable of firing highly explosive shells as far as 8.3 miles or 13.35 km in any direction. Each mortar required a crew of at least 14 men to load and fire the shells. The mortars could be lifted to a trajectory between 45 to 70 degrees, which made them ideal for targeting enemies entrenched in higher ground in Bataan. The battery was named after Second Lt. Henry Way of the 4th U.S. Artillery, who died in service in the Philippines in 1900.

Caballo Island is a bluff, rocky island located at the entrance to Manila Bay in the Philippines. It is about 1.2 km long with the highest elevation at 381 feet high. Caballo, along with the larger Corregidor, divides the entrance to the bay into two broad and deep channels, known as the North and South Channel. The whole island was formerly occupied by Fort Hughes, a U.S. defense fortification before World War II. It was heavily bombed during the war.

Founded in 1795 as a Parochial Church by the Augustinian Recollect priests under the patronage of Nuestra Señora del Pilar and St. John the Baptist, and by the administration of Fr. Francisco de Santiago, OAR, as its first Parish Priest. The present church was made up beautifully by stone and bricks and it was declared a Cathedral and the Seat of the Diocese of Imus, with Nuestra Señora del Pilar as its titular Patroness.

Corregidor Island Lighthouse

This Lighthouse sits on the highest point of the island of Corregidor. It was completed in 1853, guided ships through the narrow Manila Bay passageway to the port of Manila. It functioned continuously until World War Two. It was rebuilt in a slightly different design in the 1950s, using stones from the original structure. Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church

The best-preserved church complex in the province, the Church of the Assumption of our Lady was first built in 1618 by the Jesuits, established as a parish church in 1627 and enlarged from 1630-1633. In 1649, during the Spanish-Dutch War, the church was destroyed for fear of becoming a Dutch fort. Then the church was rebuilt by the Jesuits using wood. Now the church was listed by the National Museum as a National Cultural Treasure.

People's Park in the Sky

Also known as People’s Park is a historical urban park in Tagaytay, Cavite. The park was converted from an incomplete mansion, known as the Palace in the Sky built during the Marcos Era. The incomplete scaffolding of the mansion remained intact. The Shrine of Our Lady, Mother of Fair Love, and a doppler weather radar station maintained by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration is also within the park.

Saint Mary Magdalene Parish Church

This Roman Catholic church is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines, the construction of the present church was started in 1737. The church was last restored in 1990 by the citizens of Kawit. The church is known for its healing and resolution to personal problems. A four-story bell tower is on the right side of the facade and its lower levels are square. It is one of the famous pilgrimage center in this area.

The St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church or known as General Trias Church is the first Catholic parish church in the municipality of General Trias, Cavite. The church is located at the town square plaza of General Trias, formerly called as San Francisco de Malabon in honor of its patron saint, Saint Francis of Assisi. It’s a style of Spanish Baroque architecture that can be found in the Philippines, which suffered destructive earthquakes during the 17th and 18th centuries.
