Alpine Museum of Switzerland

Museums

The Swiss Alpine Museum is a museum dedicated to the nature and culture of the Swiss Alps. It is located at Helvetiaplatz 4 in Bern. was founded in 1905 by the Bernese section of the Swiss Alpine Club in the Rathaus Zum Äusseren Stand on Zeughausgasse. It displays exhibits concerning the geology, tectonics, glaciology, meteorology, flora, fauna, cartography, agriculture, folklore, settlement, alpinism, tourism, winter sports, endangerment, and protection of or in the Alps.

Bantiger TV Tower is a 196 meter tall tower used for FM- and TV-transmission on the Bantiger mountain. The access to the deck goes via a stairway, which is not inside the tower, but in a lattice tower attached to the tower's main structure.

Since 1513 bears have been at home in Bern. The Bern bear pit is an attraction that is known far beyond the borders of Switzerland. Since 2009 the bears of Bern also have a modern 6,000 square meters park at their disposal - which they can reach via a tunnel.

The Tierpark Dählhölzli, or Dählhölzli Zoo, is a public zoo in Bern, Switzerland. It opened in 1937 and is operated by an affiliated association, the Tierparkverein Bern. The city of Bern owns the zoo and provides most of its financing. It is situated on the bank of the river Aare near the historic city center. The zoo exhibits some 3,000 animals on 15 ha and employs a staff of 27. It also cares for the bears exhibited in the Bärengraben.

The Protestant Church of the Holy Spirit is located near the Main Train station building. It was built in the Baroque style by the Knights Hospitallers of the Holy Spirit. It was founded in 1726 on the site of an earlier Christian Church. The Church was originally built as a Protestant temple, and eventually became one of the most remarkable Protestant churches in Switzerland.

The Chutzenturm is a 45-meter high wooden observation tower with a viewing platform in the Frienisberg area. It offers great views of the Alps. It offers the view of the Bern city, Lake Biel, and the Swiss plateau. The view from the tower is truly a treat to the eyes and also it is a challenging task to climb the tower.

The Einsteinhaus is a museum and a former residence of Albert Einstein. It is located on Kramgasse No. 49 in Bern, Switzerland. A flat on the second floor of the house was occupied by Einstein, his wife Mileva Marić, and their son Hans Einstein from 1903 to 1905. The Annus Mirabilis papers, which presented Einstein's theory of relativity and contributed substantially to the foundation of modern physics, were written here and published in the Annalen der Physik.

The Gerechtigkeitsbrunnen is a 16th-century fountain in the Gerechtigkeitsgasse in the Old City of Bern, Switzerland. It is the only Bernese fountain to retain all original design elements and is listed as a cultural heritage of national significance.

The Gurten is a mountain situated just to the south of Bern, the capital city of Switzerland. It is 858 meters high, and the summit yields views of Bern, of the Jura mountains, and of the Alps. The Gurten is accessible on foot, or by the Gurten Funicular from Wabern. Wabern can itself be reached from central Bern by tram, train, or car.

Jegenstorf Castle is a castle in the municipality of Jegenstorf of the Canton of Bern in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. One of the majestic building which was located in the heart of Bern. In 1954, a foundation was created to preserve and operate the castle and create a museum. Since 1955, the village museum of Jegenstorf has been open in the castle.
