Basilica of Saint ServatiusThe Roman Catholic Basilica of Saint Servatius is situated in Maastricht, in The Netherlands. It is dedicated to, and built on top of the grave of Saint Servatius, a martyr of the fourth century. This basilica is dependent of the Diocese of Roermond. The church is mostly in Romanesque style and was built in several stages from the 11th until the 13th centuries.
HelpoortThe Helpoort, is a former city gate in the Dutch city of Maastricht. The gate is part of the first medieval city wall of Maastricht and is located in the Jekerkwartier at the southern end of the Sint Bernardusstraat, opposite the Pesthuys. The gate dates from the second quarter of the 13th century, making it the oldest surviving city gate in the Netherlands.
Hoensbroek CastleHoensbroek Castle is one of the largest castles in the Netherlands . The oldest part of the castle, especially the high round tower, dates from around 1360 , when Herman Hoen renovated it. In 1225 there was already a predecessor in this swamp, a so-called motte -fortress. In 1250 a fortified house was built on the site of the present castle.
MunsterkerkThe Munsterkerk is a 13th-century church dedicated to Our Lady in the Dutch town of Roermond. Its remarkable front towers are 55 meter in height. The Munsterkerk is one of the most important example of Late Romanesque architecture in the Netherlands. The church is a Rijksmonument, and is part of the Top 100 Dutch heritage sites.
