A flat terrain in Shimla, Annandale has been developed as the playground of the city. It is located approximately 3 kilometers away from the Ridge and is used to play cricket and to organize picnics, Golf, and Polo. It is quite a scenic spot as it gives a picturesque view of the Shimla city and its surroundings are occupied by deodar trees, oak trees, etc. Annandale is famous because earlier the British used this as a play ground for racing, polo, cricket and other entertaining activities.

This sanctuary is noted for its Chir Pheasant Breeding and Rehabilitation centre which was introduced to increase the number of Chir birds in the area.

Chandra Taal lake is on the Samudra Tapu plateau, which overlooks Chandra river. The name of the lake originates from its crescent shape. It is at an altitude of about 4,300 metres. Chandra Taal is a tourist destination for trekkers and campers.

The least inhabited village on the Indo-Tibetan border, Chitkul is found on the bank of Baspa River. It is the last point in India till where one can travel without a permit. Dhankar Lake lies after a steep trek of 45 minutes. Though the trek seems an easy hike, it is quite difficult. The loose pebbles and the crisp mountain air make you breathless within a few seconds. Dhankar Lake can be reached after a quite strenuous trek. You would want to quit and not continue with your climb but the surprise you get once you reach the lake is beyond words. The breathtaking expanse of cerulean waters is set against the backdrop of snow covered peaks.

This pass is frequently used by shepherds of the lower Himalayan region, seeking high altitude grasslands in the summer, when the dry cold desert of Lahaul is barren.

Hatu Peak is the highest peak in the entire Shimla district, located in Narkanda. Surrounded by majestic mountains and covered in a dense green blanket of sky-touching cedar and fir, Hatu Peak may just be paradise on earth. The forest is a mixed one, comprising a varied population of deodar, fir, spruce, cedar, and blue pine; but is mostly renowned for its colorful apple orchards. The Hatu Mata Temple rests atop the hill on Hatu Peak and holds great religious significance to the locals.

Indrahar Pass Trail

A high mountain pass in the Dhauladhar Range of Himalaya, Indrahar Pass is located at an altitude of 4342 m. This alpine pass forms the border between Kangra and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh.
