The Lake Varese is located at the foot of Varesine Pre-Alps at an altitude of238 m above sea level; has an average depth of11 m and a maximum of26 m, while the surface is14.95 km². It is the 10th Italian lake by extension, among those entirely included in the national borders, and the 12th in total. Known for its unmistakable shoe shape. It is also renowned for the abundance of ducks, so much so that the latter is called the Lake of Ducks.
