About Lago di Monate

The Lake Monate is a pre-alpine lake in Lombardy located in the province of Varese between Lake Varese and Lake Maggiore. The lake is fed by underground springs and some canals including the Rio Freddo has a single outlet in the Acquanegra stream that flows into Lake Maggiore in the municipality of Brebbia in the Sabbie d'Oro area. The waters are generally quite clear with some stretches in which they tend to become opaque, taking on a lagoon color.
