About Plainburg

One of the oldest castle ruins in Austria. It lies at an altitude of up to 643 m above sea level. A. , above the Gmainer valley. The remains of the Plainburg! 5 meter high and one and a half meters thick walls surround the inner courtyard and give the ruin the shape of an open box, which is why the Plainburg is popularly known as the "Salzbüchsl".
