Behind the building are remnants of the former Zwaantjesgang.The building is characterized by its neo-Moorish style , with many oriental horseshoe and keyhole arches in the windows and galleries. It is the last and most exuberant example of this style in the Netherlands.
Sint Anthony GasthuisThe Sint Anthonygasthuis is a guest house in the city of Groningen . It is located on the Rademarkt opposite the police headquarters. The guest house was founded in 1517 and was partly built with stones from the demolished Edzard Castle across the road. It was located on the edge of the former city, against the city wall. That location must have been deliberately chosen, because it originally also served as a plague house.
KorenbeursThe Korenbeurs is one of those buildings in Groningen with a very impressive façade. This is where grain was traded during the heyday of the Groningen grain cultivation. Traders met here to score high prices for their product. The building is a rijksmonument since 1971 and is one of the Top 100 Dutch heritage sites that was selected in 1990.
SluisbrugThe monumental drawbridge is located between the Schuttevaerstraat and the Kastanjelaan over the Hoogeveensche Vaart. The bridge is referred to as Sluisbrug because of its location and relationship with the lock, which is also worth protecting.
