Consists of a 19,000-square-metre site covered with 2,711 concrete slabs arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. The slabs are designed to produce an uneasy, confusing atmosphere, to represent a supposedly ordered system that has lost touch with human reason.

The iconic monument of Berlin and Germany. The gate was often a site for major historical events. The place and the area surrounding it are very crowded, it is also place for conducting protests/ events etc.. When we were there there was a "hare Krishna" event going on there. It was good to see the iconic monument that I have seen many times in print materials.
