Aflenzer BürgeralmThe Aflenzer Bürgeralm, is an alpine settlement in the market town of Aflenz in Styria. It is located north of Aflenz Kurort and below the Windgrube, a secondary peak in the Hochschwab group . It consists of several restaurants and numerous accommodations and is accessed not only by the access road but also by a chairlift. Sports can be practiced on the Bürgeralm both in summer and in winter.
BärenschützklammThe Bärenschützklamm in the Austrian state of Styria is a water-bearing rocky gorge with limestone walls up to 300 m high. It was declared a natural monument in 1978. Since 1901, a climbing system made of wooden bridges and ladders has allowed people to climb through it and opened it up for tourism. The gorge is normally open from May up to and including October, entry is permitted daily from 7.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Dachstein glacierA majestic glacier located between the towns of Ramsau am Dachstein in the south and Hallstatt and Obertraun in the north, in Austria. Snow is at the top of the glacier throughout the year. However snow is soft in summer. It remains snow-covered for much of the year. This mountain is located at the borders of Salzburg, Upper Austria and Styria. The train stops at Schladming and from there is a bus to the village below the Dachstein Mountains.
Erzberg mineThe Erzberg mine is a large open-pit mine placed in Eisenerz, Styria. Erzberg represents the most important iron ore reserves in Austria and this mine produces round 2,153,000 tonnes of iron ore in line with 12 months. It is also the site of the annual Erzberg Rodeo hard enduro race.
Galsterbergalm (Schladming-Dachstein)The Galsterbergalm hut is situated in a wonderful panoramic position at 1800 m above sea level in the Galsterbergalm hiking area and in winter in the family ski area in Pruggern in the heart of the Schladming-Dachstein region. Piber Federal StudThe Piber Federal Stud is a stud farm dedicated to the breeding of Lipizzan horses, located at the village of Piber, near the town of Köflach in western Styria. It is the primarybreeding farm that produces the stallions used by the Spanish Riding School, where the best stallions of each generation bred at Piber are brought for training and later public performance.
