The statue of unity is a colossal statue of the Indian statesman and Independence activist Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Who was the first deputy prime minister and home minister of independent India. The project was first announced in 2010 and the construction of the statue started in October 2013 by Larsen & Toubro, who received the contract for ₹ 500 crores from Center Government.
