Hauptkirche St. Michaelis
St. Michaels Church in #hamburg has a 130 meter high tower that can be seen from far away. We climbed the stairs to reach the top, it was an extremely good workout for the day. The views from top covers pretty much all of the city of Hamburg, the view especially towards the port is amazing.
You also have access to the crypts underneath the church, where some notable figures were buried. The interior of the church is decorated very well, and the huge pipe organ is something that caught my eyes. Probably we will go for a musical with pipe organ soon ;)

U-Boot Museum Hamburg
After doing a boat ride through the harbour of #Hamburg we decided to visit the U-Boot museum. This submarine was bought from the Russian marine many years ago and brought to Hamburg. It is super interesting to see all the machinery and piping within the boat. It also feels claustrophobic because everything is cramped and narrow.

Port of Hamburg
You should never miss a port tour of #Hamburg if you are in the city. The harbour is filled with boat tour agents so you don't really have to do an online booking. The ticket costs around 20 Euros.
The boat basically takes you through the various parts of the port where you can see giant cargo ships loading and unloading, giant yachts and military vessels parked for construction and maintenance and huge cruise ships. The true scale of these massive ships only hits the brain once you are close to it.

Elbtunnel
This 400+ meters long, 100+ year old tunnel goes underneath the river Elbe connecting central #Hamburg to the port. There are four huge lifts on each side which once were used to move cars to and from the deep tunnel. Since the 70's, the tunnel has been used only by pedestrians and cyclists, the lifts still working.
Walking through the tunnel makes you admire the engineering capabilities of humans, it's amazing to know something this complicated was constructed more than a hundred year ago. On the port side of the tunnel, there is a viewpoint where you can sit on and have some drinks looking at the various sized and shaped boats going through the Elbe river, and of the major buildings of the Hamburg city.
