The former colossal temple is dedicated to Zeus. It took about 638 years to build(from 6th century BC to 2nd century AD), started by the greeks and finished by the Romans. It was the largest temple in Greece, consisting of 104 large columns. Within a century, it was destroyed and completely ruined though. Currently there is nothing majestic left about the temple though, apart from the 16 big pillars still standing(this thought is perhaps because of the visit to the Acropolis a day before, compared to Acropolis, there is little to see here). The view of the Acropolis in the background is pretty amazing.
