The Lecknertal is a predominantly agriculturally used valley in the Allgäu pre-Alps west of the Iller . The lower part of the valley is in Hittisau in Austria , while the upper part is in the municipality of Oberstaufen in Germany. During the summer months, the valley is used for livestock farming in around 50 Alps . Due to the high location and the harsh climate, however, year-round cultivation is not possible.
